Stewart - Mission Accomplished
Paris Charles (SMA) posted Wednesday April 13, 2005.
The Croft Constructions South Australian 360ci Sprintcar Championship at Murray Bridge’s Riverview Speedway proved to be a successful venture for Graham Stewart and his team as they continue their steep learning curve in open wheeled dirt track racing.
Each race was like a lesson for Graham who circulated the CSA Alloy Wheels / Impressive Paint & Panel Cool on a steady mid track line. ‘I decided to stay mid track and hold my line so the more experienced drivers knew where to pass,’ said Graham. To Graham’s credit he managed to finish every race in one piece and without getting in the way of the faster cars. Stewart’s two heat races produced a fifth and sixth respectively while backing that up with another sixth in the ‘B Dash’.
Starting from fourteenth in the 30 lap feature race Graham settled into a steady pace as the others raced, crashed and bashed their way around him. As the laps fell to the way side so did some of his fellow competitors and Graham’s steady driving style netted him a seventh placing in the South Australian Championship. In addition to this great result the Stewart team also claimed the ‘Paris Charles Photography Best Presented Car Award’ for their stunning presentation on the car now dubbed ‘The Black Shadow’.
The rookie dirt racer thoroughly enjoyed his night of 360ci Sprintcar racing in the newly acquired ex Luke Dillon Cool car. ‘We kept the car straight and got quicker as the night progressed,’ said Graham as we travelled back down the highway to Adelaide after the meeting.
The GSR team are hopeful to run at the upcoming Mark Gilbert promoted event to be held on the May long weekend at the Wayville Showgrounds, more details will follow.
In closing Graham would like to thank his team Craig, Ron, Mark, Dave and the newest addition to the team Mandy who kept the car in pristine condition all night.
In addition Graham would also like to acknowledge Commercial Metal Polishers, Revolution Race Gear, Maxwill Race Engines, Luke Dillon Motorsport, Lightning Karts / Redback Race Equipment and ML & MK Baked Enamellers for their help.
